I know you don’t all celebrate Christmas, but I do.
I won’t apologize for celebrating Christmas, and I don’t expect an apology from you for not doing so. It’s a big world, with a lot of different people in it.
I’ll be me, and you be you. I’m happy with that.

Over the years, the meaning of Christmas has changed for me, and I’ve built up a lot of memories of the holiday. I won’t bore you with all the stuff that goes round my head at this time of year, but I did want to share what Christmas has come to mean to me.
We get together and open presents. My grand-kids play with all their new toys while the grown-ups watch. Then we have a big meal. Later we play board games and people laugh from the heart. Everybody talks at once and the kids usually get into something they’re not supposed to.
I drink coffee and watch this delightful bedlam unfold, happy that I’ve got a family to celebrate Christmas with.
May the true spirit of Christmas fill your home. May the children wake up with eyes brightly shining, as they race to see what treaure can be found under the star so high on the tree. But most of all may the reason for the season bring blessings to you and yours.

Great post. I’m an atheist, and I celebrate Christmas. You’re right, it’s about family.
And eating too much, and buying people books and socks and weird stuff from Etsy (last year I got my nephew a t-shirt of a diver punching a shark).

The family has gotten too big for us to know what to buy them anymore, so we either buy off-the-wall stuff or give gift certificates.
I’ve gotten some pretty nice t-shirts too. “New York City Jail” and “F you, you f’ing F” are a couple of my favorites. 🙂

It is funny how the whole spirit of Christmas can be so conflicting. As a kid, it’s nothing but magic. Then we grow up and have to do our own Christmas shopping, which can suck the spirit right out of you. Consumerism is trying desperately to take over. These days, we don’t worry too much about gifts for anyone other than the kids. My mom cooks dinner for an army, as well as a pie in every flavor. Then, we watch the little ones tear into the wrapping paper. Seeing my son light up brings that magic back.
Merry Christmas! 😀
